Chris Knight and his dad Tom from Butler, Pa. fished with me this week. We started off first thing catching a dozen sheepshead to 4 pounds in Phillippi Cr on live shrimp. We wandered north and found a bunch of speckled trout in ten feet of water on a deep grass edge behind Bird Key. We caught 20 or so on live shrimp to 18". On the way in we hooked several large ladyfish in the channel near the Field Club.
Bill Thiel of Naperville, Il went out with me on Monday, fishing was tough that afternoon. We caught several ladyfish and some Sheepshead fishing the docks south of Spanish Pt.
Sarasota fishing report from Capt Jim Klopfer Adventure Charters out of
CB's Saltwater Outfitters on Siesta Key, Sarasota Fl March 6, 2010
Unfortunately a severe cold front came through on Tuesday bringing
SW winds of 30+ mph, effectively shutting down fishing for a couple of
days. Winds shifted north west at 20+ mph, making for tough
conditions. I fished with Jim Mitchell of Minneapolis, Mn and his son
David on Fri, we fished hard for a dozen ladyfish on olive Cotee jigs.
The water temperature was 53 degrees and fishing was tough. There are
sheepshead and reds available on live shrimp fishing docks between
Blackburn Pt and marker #16 in Nokomis.
